MISSION
To promote best practices for sports medicine in secondary schools throughout Florida.
FIVE-YEAR VISION
Florida is a leader in the promotion of health and safety for student athletes leading to an increase in the wellbeing of individuals and their communities. There is a full time, licensed athletic trainer in all high schools participating in athletic programs. FASMed is recognized for their collaborative model for the prevention, recognition, and care of sports related injuries.
PRIMARY AUDIENCES
Reach school officials and elected/appointed officials that ultimately serve student athletes and their parents.
GOALS
- Increase (promote) the health and safety of students participating in athletic competition
- Increase awareness of sports-related injuries
OBJECTIVES
- Decrease in sports related deaths
- Increase in early reporting of injury symptoms like sports related concussions
- Decrease in nonemergency emergency room visits
- Decrease in absences and time loss injuries at school due to sports related injury

SERVICES
Education
- Serve as a source of medical expertise and training relating to student athletes.
- Provide educational curriculum to athletic personnel, students, and their parents and others regarding avoidance, identification, and treatment of injuries.
Advocacy
- Provide forum for continuing communication among individuals and groups concerned with sports-related injuries.
- Provide advice and assistance to the public and governmental agencies.
- Advocate on behalf of middle and high school athletes and other youth sports organizations for prevention, recognition and care of sports related injuries.
